چکیده

Ontology Charting (OC) is an Organisational Semiotics (OS) technique for the representation of requirements for information systems and organisations, based on semiotic theories and studies, incorporating technical and social aspects. The application of semiotics to the design of Information Systems (IS) competes with other methods and this paper presents a comparative analysis of these methods underlying modelling techniques applied to a case-study, as well as their pros and cons.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Numerical modelling of the underground roadways in coal mines– uncertainties caused by use of empirical-based downgrading methods and in situ stresses

Numerical modelling techniques are not new for mining industry and civil engineering projects anymore. These techniques have been widely used for rock engineering problems such as stability analysis and support design of roadways and tunnels, caving and subsidence prediction, and stability analysis of rock slopes. Despite the significant advancement in the computational mechanics and availabili...

Ontology-driven approach towards domain-specific system design

In practice, domain-specific modelling is intended for improved conceptualisation of a specific domain. Further, distinct parts of a large software system are modelled by different domain-specific modelling languages. This approach sometimes leads to the problem of poor semantics, interoperability and reusability of domain model concepts. However, ontology aids in common understanding of domain...

Interpretation of Quality and Dimensions of Intertextual Relations in Contemporary Public Constructions in Uzbekistan with Architectural Works in this Country at Timurid Era (Since 1960-1990)’

Today, one of the important topics, which are mentioned in architecture, is the relationship between architectural works with each other and way of effect of such works on them. On the other hand, under current conditions and despite existing trends which look for their own architecture, it is crucial important to interpret how contemporary architectural works are affected by previous architect...

UML vs. IDEF: An Ontology-Oriented Comparative Study in View of Business Modelling

The UML and IDEF sets of languages characterize typical modelling approaches of software engineering and computer integrated manufacturing, respectively. This paper presents a comparative analysis of these languages based on their ontologies and in view of their use in business modelling. A brief introduction to UML and IDEF is followed by a high-level comparison taking into account underlying ...
